AHCI Young Talent Competition
How do you celebrate 30 years of promoting and supporting Independent Watchmaking? By giving a leg-up to an apprentice just starting out on their horological adventures, of course! This year the AHCI will affirm their allegiance with the next generation of watchmakers by offering them the chance to demonstrate their skills with the launch of their first "Young Talent Competition".
In keeping with the international flavour of the AHCI, the competition will involve 47 watchmaking schools from 14 different countries and 33 AHCI watchmakers from 11 different countries will participate in the selection of the winner. The event is open to current watchmaking apprentices or those who have graduated since August 2013 and closing date for receipt of entries is 18th January.
The "Young Talent Competition" will be a superb addition to the celebrations planned for what is set to be a jubilee year for the AHCI and the winning timepiece will be exhibited alongside the AHCI timepieces at Baselworld 2015 thus elevating its young creator to status of head honcho among his or her peers.
François-Paul Journe, himself a student of watchmaking since the tender age of sixteen, will give the competition his patronage and the winner will be announced at the Osaka Samarkand room in the Congress Centre on March 19th 2015.
