Blancpain unveil new 500 Fathoms at Cannes International Boat Show
This weekend Blancpain choose the sublime location of the “Vieux Port” in Cannes to launch the latest in its collection of diving watches, the all-new 500 Fathoms series at the Cannes International Boat Show. Termed the “ big sister” of the original Fifty Fathoms, first released in the 1950’s, the 500 Fathoms features a brushed titanium case measuring an impressive 48mm in diameter which contrasts boldly with the new distinctive “sun-ray” dial. The piece is powered by a self-winding Calibre 1315 movement and unusually for a divers watch this along with its unique boat propeller-shaped oscillating weight is revealed through a specially engineered tough sapphire crystal caseback. The 500 Fathoms has water-resistance of 1000 metres and the added security of an innovative automatic decompression valve.
Blancpain have been partners of the Cannes International Boat and Yacht Show, Europe’s leading in-water exhibition for five consecutive years and to celebrate this have also unveiled the 500 Fathoms Cannes 2009 edition limited to 50 pieces. Presented in an impressive and functional water tight box, the watch is fitted with a black rubber-lined sail canvas strap with an additional rubber strap and tools required to secure it also supplied.
