Bremont Bring Their Own Terrific English-ness to Salon QP (and their quite fabulous Codebreaker watch too...)

For the 4th year running Bremont will bring their own version of terrific English-ness to Salon QP, and you really couldn't blame them if they do so with just a little bit of puffery and swagger.....

At the UK Retail Awards earlier this year, Bremont scooped the awards for both "Luxury Watch Brand of the Year" and also "Store Design of the Year" for their Mayfair Boutique - not just a watch shop, but a must-visit destination too.  Bremont now have a new HQ in which to line-up their watchmaking benches at Henley-On-Thames and they have a new on-line retailer agreement with Mr Porter - and have started to spread a little Bremont around the world with a recent launch in Australia and their first overseas own-brand boutique in Hong Kong.  All tickety-boo at Bremont then and deservedly so.

In just a whisker over ten years, Bremont have built a portfolio of well designed pieces with more than a few ingenious features – trick case construction means each piece is virtually indestructible, each Bremont watch undergoes the horological equivalent of boot camp, hence the aphorism “Tested Beyond Endurance” and each piece in their collection is COSC chronometer tested and certified – these are small series, precision timekeepers created by a watch company with an unstuffy attitude to the industry.

At SalonQP visitors will have a chance to view the Bremont Codebreaker, a watch which brought a flyback chronograph to their portfolio for the first time. The Codebreaker pays tribute to Bletchley Park, the melting pot of science, mathematics and engineering which during World War II was the covert location for the Government Code and Cypher school. Its design takes inspiration from the watches which would have been worn by Officers in the 1940′s, an aesthetically classical plainness which this brand have made their own.

With the considered approach to the design of the Codebreaker, its launch and the information compiled for release to the press, Bremont set themselves apart and defined their brand as one which is quite unique.  There was nothing peacocky to be found in the press release that we received on the release of the Codebreaker.  As much, and perhaps more was written about the Bletchley Park Trust and the individuals involved in its operations during the war than was disclosed about the watch - a refreshing andmature approach from such a youthful watch company.  I feel that the Codebreaker represents a synopsis of all that Bremont have learned thus far in their watchmaking adventure and if you get a chance go-see, you may even meet the founders who are still as enthusiastic as schoolboys, despite their success.
