Corum Miss Golden Bridge and Golden Bridge 2010

This year Corum will present two new Golden Bridge models, the Corum Miss Golden Bridge and the Golden Bridge 2010.  Both pieces honour the 30th Anniversary of the resplendent Golden Bridge, first launched in 1980 and perhaps the most elegant of Corum’s Four Pillars. The Corum Miss Golden Bridge

The Miss Golden Bridge is unusual in that it is a designated ladies watch design, previous releases have been irresistible but unattainable Haute Joaillerie editions or down-sized versions of the mens Golden Bridge.  The baguette movement, the ultra slim Calibre CO113 is as transpicuous as ever, viewable through both sides of the sapphire crystal, its miniature form accentuated by a trimmed bezel and open-worked hands.

The Corum Miss Golden Bridge

Hand-winding is via a stem at the 6 o’clock position and the Miss Golden Bridge has a power reserve of 40 hours.  In its finished form the piece sits beautifully on the wrist thanks to the removal of the watch horns allowing the alligator strap to integrate into the watchcase.

The Miss Golden Bridge will be available in 18ct white gold and red gold versions limited to a total of 333 pieces per year.  A diamond edition adorned with 90 stones forms part of this range, although this is hardly necessary as the exquisite baguette movement is the real jewel in this collection.

The Corum Golden Bridge 2010

The Golden Bridge 2010 release will be a little less lucid than its transparent predecessors with the addition of a watch dial, the placement of which being located behind the movement instead of in front, continues the often eccentric design traditions of the brand.

With openings in the caseback and the dial, the craftsmanship and hand engraving of the Calibre CO113 is not wasted and the sunburst guilloché dial rather than becoming an obstacle becomes a harmonious addition. The piece is finished with skeleton watch hands and applique baton hour markers.

The Corum Golden Bridge

The Corum Golden Bridge 2010 is available in 18ct red gold, 18ct  yellow or white gold and platinum versions complimented by black, grey or golden dial finishes depending on which case material  you choose and with an annual release of 333 pieces across the range.

It is interesting to note that Corum are perhaps the only manufacturer who can create enthusiasm within the industry by adding that most prominent of features - a watch dial - to one of their collections, surely a mark of the ingenious character of this unconventional brand.
