Jaeger-LeCoultre Amvox World Chronograph LMP1
Here's the latest JLC/Aston Martin timepiece, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Amvox World Chronograph LMP1, the ninth watch released to celebrate the partnership. As you can imagine it's a sporty collection of watches with lots of car-inspired stuff, air vent style chrono pushers etc. and high-tech construction materials. The LMP1 in the title is for "Le Mans Prototype 1" which means that this piece, like the Aston Martin Racing LMP1 cars steps out in the very tasty Gulf colours of orange and blue.
The piece combines a worldtimer, with 24 hour locations displayed on the disc, readable and useful, and a chronograph function, the perfect trackside accompaniment for arduous endurance races.
On the textured dial are stand-out white lume-coated hour and minute hands, a 30 minute counter is at 6 o'clock, a 12 hour counter is at 12 with a chronograph hand in the centre. All of the timing function hands appear in vibrant orange. The 44mm case is made from ceramic and titanium with grippy pushers on the side. On the world timezone disc are 24 city locations from which the time can be instantly read, in place of London the Aston Martin winged logo is displayed. Inside is Jaeger-LeCoultre's automatic 752 Calibre with a more than generous 65 hours of power reserve thanks to its twin barrel construction.
As far as sporting events go, a Swiss watch manufacturer can have no better billboard on which to advertise its name than endurance racing. We have avidly followed the fortunes of the Rebellion Racing Team this year but I have to admit it's hard not to notice an Aston Martin going full throttle around the track with the iconic "007" number proudly displayed on its side.
The Jaeger-LeCoultre Amvox World Chronograph LMP1 will be a limited editon of 250 pieces each presented on a super-cool perforated black leather strap.
