Rebellion RE1 Chronograph - Precison Timepiece - and best of the petrolheads!

It's a chicken and egg conundrum - which came first Rebellion Timepieces or Rebellion Racing?  The two are intrinsically linked, just the kind of horology/motor-racing infusion which we at the WatchPress partake of with relish.

Rebellion Timepieces are, of course the main sponsor of the Rebellion Racing Team currently fighting for domination in the Le Mans Series and the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup - Sports Car Endurance racing at its finest.  This year the team have an exclusive supply of Toyota's beefy V8 petrol engines and have been the best of the petrolheads in the Le Mans 24 Hour race and more recently at Imola's 6 Hour endurance event.  Next up are the 6 hour endurance races at Silverstone and Estoril both to be held next month - we don't want to be too enthusiastic, but it's looking good for the championship!  Look out for these cars - instantly recognisable by their Swiss flag-inspired colourway teamed with flashes of gold and white and the big Rebellion Timepieces logo right across the front, the best billboard advert that a high-end Swiss watch manufacture could hope for.

Rebellion Timepieces are a refreshingly youthful, feisty watch brand.  Everything in their portfolio has automobile-inspired DNA both aesthetically and with regard to construction materials used.  These are superbly technical, high quality watches produced in limited numbers and powered by exclusive precision movements.  This is the Rebellion RE-1 Chronograph designed and tweaked by watch guru Eric Giroud, from whose sketchpad MB&F's Thunderbolt and Frog amongst others were also penned.

The watchcase measures a striking 46x56mm and is a complex sandwich modular construction.  Note those tapering wedge-shaped pushers on the side, the trick screw heads and that outsize "wheel-nut" crown.  This is a robust squared piece yet it is curvy too, the edges are softened by the beveled sapphire crystal offering a slight distortion at the dial edge when viewed side on.  Yes it is a huge piece, but skillful design ensures that it will hug your wrist and not shred your cuff.

On the dial is a veritable combination of car-inspired stuff reminiscent of alloy rims, turbines and gauges.  The chunky sweep hand for the chronograph function features an overhang onto which the Rebellion logo is sculpted.  Inside is the exclusive RE-1 automatic calibre with 50 hours of power reserve.

The superb Rebellion RE-1 Chronograph is available in stainless steel, red gold, black DLC steel or titanium editons and comes presented on an integrated black rubber strap with folding buckle.
