Now this is beautiful - big clean face, slender case, 50's styling - the Frederique Constant Slimline Tourbillon Manufacture Limited Edition watch.  

Frederique Constant are relatively youthful but Aletta and Peter Stas have continued to grow the company they founded in 1988 technically, organically and rather beautifully.  Theirs is a portfolio composed of classically styled timepieces which are “sensibly priced”, but you’d never know it – these are hand-assembled wristwatches with hand-polished cases.  Quality control and attention to detail are the fundamentals on which the brand’s reputation has been built.

Vintage styled it maybe, but inside this piece is a thoroughly modern silicium movement  - the brand were the first to develop a tourbillon featuring an escapement wheel made from silicon, the smooth surface of which needs no lubrication and which being incredibly light, results in less inertia in the escape wheel.

This piece features all the details required for a quintessential  retro dress watch - the dial is generously curved, the bezel is rounded, polished and trim and the hands and the hand applied, resplendent markers are eyelash-slim.  A day-night pointer indication is both quirky and functional and there is still enough dial space to showcase the superb panorama of the 60 second tourbillon with its integrated seconds hand.

Two editions of the Frederique Constant Slimline Tourbillon Manufacture will be available, all stainless steel or stainless steel with 18-karat rose gold with each version limited to 188 pieces.
