The Magellan 1521 Flowers Watch
The Magellan 1521 Flowers Watch - Last week I wrote about the Corum Bubble, with its high-domed crystal. The Magellan 1521 Flowers watch features not only a high crystal, but a dial and hands which reach right up to follow its convex form. Taking inspiration from the shape of a ship's compass, the result is a semi-spherical 3D effect which is as dramatic as it is charming.
...... But it's not all about looks, there are technical accomplishments too, that high-domed convex sapphire is designed so the time can be viewed whatever the angle and the four deliciously curved hands are raised so acutley that they required a unique structure which uses an intricate system of guiding pipes which in turn required modification of the ETA 2893 movement which powers this exquisite piece - I say four hands, because the one with the delightful little golden orb tip is, in fact, a 24 hour hand which can be adjusted independently.
The Magellan 1521 Flowers watch has a 43.5mm steel PVD coated case and a black mother-of-pearl dial onto which a resplendent miscellany of flowers have been hand painted. Nothing detracts from the perfectly rounded form of this watch, the winding crown is located beneath the crystal, accessible only from the caseback and even the lugs have been banished from view.
There are many variations of the Magellan 1521 watch, each meritorious in its own unique way. View them here at the brand's official website.
