The Tissot T-Race MotoGP Limited Edition 2013
Just in time for the start of the 2013 MotoGP season, we bring you details of this years Tissot MotoGP watches.
Tissot continues to keep good company with a wide assortment of sporting partnerships. With MotoGP, the Swiss brand are not simply content with showcasing their branding around the various circuits, they have the added swagger of actually timing each event. Staying up to date with the latest technology, providing the required equipment and hauling it all around the world is a huge commitment for any company, but Tissot are obviously doing a fine job - this is their 13th season with MotoGP, that's 13 years of instantaneous analysis and stats often providing the armchair racer with information long before the whoopla in the commentary box can be heard.
Naturally Tissot are rather chuffed with their timekeeping abilities, which each year gives rise to a new collection of limited edition Tissot MotoGP watches. Brake disk bezels, caliper-styled crown protectors, on-dial carbon fibre-like finishing, engine-like grooves, chunky styling and high-tech materials all combine to add to the appeal of these "not-just-for-bikers" watches.
Four styles will be available in limited quantities. The Tissot T-Race MotoGP Automatic Chronograph features a mechanical movement and is limited to 3333 pieces, recognisable by its blue-on-black strap with blue elements on the dial.
A quartz-powered edition, shown below, is limited to 8888 pieces and is denoted by its white counters and out-size numerals 12, 8 and 4, it also features the rather handsome blue/black colourways.
Two pieces pay tribute to Tissot ambassadors. Firstly the T-Race Nicky Hayden should assuage his many fans with a watch which picks up the vivacity of his team colours to superb effect with its red/white strap and white dial with red Alpinestars emblem at 12 o'clock. This piece is powered by quartz and will be limited to 4999 pieces.
And finally a piece in honour of the young Swiss rider, the Tissot T-Race Thomas Lüthi Limited Edition 2013 also powered by quartz and limited to 2112 pieces. It features the rider's "Thunderbolt" logo on the dial which together with yellow subtleties on the minute track and on the hands make for some rather distinctive styling. It comes presented on a grey/black strap representing the colours of his team.
Each watch in the Tissot T-Race MotoGP 2013 collection features a sculpted case measuring just over 45mm across and each have the beefy but tactile date bubble. More information at Tissot.
