(Understated) Hoopla! Laurent Ferrier has a new timepiece, the Laurent Ferrier Galet Traveller.

In 2010, after a career rich with achievements including forty years with Patek Philippe, Laurent Ferrier presented to the industry the first watch to bear his name, the Galet Classic.  The same year he was awarded the prize for Men's Watch Category at the Grand Prix d’Horologerie in Geneva - an enviable scenario and one which speaks volumes about the quality and technical make-up of this special watch.

If you wear a Laurent Ferrier watch, then relax - you'll be head honcho at any gathering of enthusiasts.

The Galet Traveller dual time watch retains some of the synonymous features which we know and love - the rounded and polished classical case and of course the high level of craftsmanship and detailed perfection of every single component.

The second time zone at 9 o'clock is displayed on a 24 hour disc, its location balanced by the date window at 3 o'clock.  Two case side pushers enable advancement or setting back of the second time zone in one hour increments.

This piece offers a departure for Laurent Ferrier from the pure classical styling we have known to something slightly more contemporary.  There is heightened busyness at the dial edge and on the small seconds thanks to the increased use of markers, which bring with them to this sophisticated dial added spiky-ness - but everything else is silky smooth.  As always, clever and considered recessing provides subtle details to be enjoyed.

The movement, based on the Galet Micro Rotor features an integrated complication and not simply an added module,  which has required considerable highly technical re-construction, but I suggest that when he finally sat down to pen and create his own calibre that such additions were firmly in M. Ferrier's mind, and now having perfected both calibre and case he can now play and add and develop at will.

Case size is 41mm across and the Laurent Ferrier Galet Traveller watch will be available in both rose gold and white gold editions.
