Glashütte Original SeaQ Panorama Date
Glashütte Original give their diver-themed SeaQ collection a deluxe makeover with two new editions, the Glashütte Original SeaQ Panorama Date Bicolour and SeaQ Panorama Date Red Gold.
The heritage of the Glashütte Original SeaQ Panorama Date dates back to a Spezialist SeaQ model from 1969. But, while there are hints of vintage styling to be found in these models, the company have equipped this collection with their in-house Calibre 36 automatic movement. So, while you get the robust looks and capabilities of a tool-ish timepiece, these watches have the same accuracy and high-end build quality for which Glashütte Original are renowned.
Perhaps last year’s blue dialled steel edition wasn’t to everyone’s taste. If so, then there are now two new models to choose from, each featuring 18ct. red gold elements.
The more luxurious of the duo is cased in 18ct red gold, and is equipped with a black dial with a sunray finish. For those who have been enjoying the revival of two-tone cases, perhaps the bicolour edition will be the ticket. This piece is housed within a case which has a steel middle section, an 18ct red gold bezel and crown and it features a rather handsome sunray-finished grey dial. The cases of both models are sized at 43.2mm and each is topped with a unidirectional bezel with a black ceramic insert. Chunky hands, markers and numerals ensure readability, even in poor light conditions thanks to a liberal coating of SuperLuminova.
Viewed through the sapphire caseback these hearty models reveal their beautiful Glashütte Original in-house calibre 36-13 movements with visible screw balance (incorporating 4 regulation screws), characteristic decorative ribbing on the three-quarter plate and skeltonised double “G” rotor in 21ct. gold. Built for longevity, the calibres have in-built Incabloc shock protection, are sealed to withstand water resistance of up to 300m and have a strapping power reserve of 100 hours.
Adhering to their sporty aesthetic, the Glashütte Original SeaQ Panorama Date Bicolour and SeaQ Panorama Date Red Gold models are presented on grey textile or black rubber straps.
