Going all-out deluxe with a resplendent new edition, the Frederique Constant Classic Worldtimer Manufacture Rose Gold wears its miscellany of indications with equipoise.
It matters not a jot if no one is traversing the globe just yet, Worldtimer watches are still utterly fascinating, and ultimately practical for those who have international business interests. With only millimetres to work with, the dial of this type of watch needs meticulous attention to design detailing, so it can offer legibility without appearing overly cluttered. Frederique Constant, who have a portfolio of beautifully crafted pieces, make good styling appear effortless. And, while they have released previous, less luxurious Worldtimer editions, this gold-cased edition, with its jaunty blue/red toned dial is their best one yet.
As stated this new model carries an 18ct rose gold case, which is sized at 42mm. The dial features a contemporary mix of blue, grey and red, together with standout white to ensure legibility. At its centre, a map of the globe is raised against a textured background while around it perfectly proportioned dots serve as hour markers. The day/night indicator which frames the globe has daytime hours executed in red, and night time hours are in grey. Nibbling into it at the 6 o’clock position, the pointer date has a sunray guilloché centre. There is depth and subtleties to be enjoyed in every single dial element. And, while readability and functionality were no doubt the brief, they didn’t also have to make it beautiful, but they did.
Turn it over, and the exemplary finishing of the automatic in-house FC-718 calibre is revealed. Notably, the city disc is fully integrated within the calibre, and all of its functions are adjustable via the single crown which extends out to three positions for foolproof operation.
The Frederique Constant Classic Worldtimer Manufacture Rose Gold edition wears on a blue alligator strap with contrasting white stitching and will be limited to 88 pieces.
