Greubel Forsey Quantième Perpétuel à Équation Red Gold Edition
Ultra-Complex, yet incredibly easy to use, the Greubel Forsey Quantième Perpétuel à Équation Red Gold Edition introduces an elegant warm colour combination to the collection.
Previously released in white/grey gold editions, the Greubel Forsey Quantième Perpétuel à Équation watch is now available in a 5N red gold case paired with a millesime chocolate brown dial. At a glance this new resplendent aesthetic combination really is quite special, however to reduce this timepiece to mere aesthetics would be wholly unfair. This is, in every way possible an extraordinary timepiece with astounding capabilities.
The piece has a compendium of functions, beautifully arranged to ensure instant readability. Through ingenious micro-engineering, this multi-patented system, which Greubel Forsey quite rightly refer to as their “Mechanical Computer”, enables the simplified, centralised setting of all of its fifteen indications, front and rear, via one bi-directional crown.
On its dial side, in addition to time indication, the most prominent feature is the day-date-month arranged in-line, on the elevated roundel located on the lower half of the dial area. Also on view are the round leap year pointer, the small seconds subdial and a 24-hour display window. Beside the power reserve indicator, a pair of tiny windows shows if the crown is set to adjust the calendar (QP) or the time settings (H/M).
Positioned on the upper quadrant of the dial at 10 o’clock, the stunning inclined tourbillon, offset by 25° rotates every 24 seconds, providing exquisite animation.
Turn the piece over, and the less-used but nonetheless fascinating indications can be read. Using a system of rotating sapphire discs, the Equation of Time throughout the months, seasons, solstice and equinox is displayed.
The piece is powered by the Greubel Forsey in-house manual-wind movement. The mainplates and bridges are made from nickel silver and as one would expect from this distinguished House, the fine frosted and polished bevelling is done to meticulous standards. Beating at 21,600 vph, the calibre delivers its power via two coaxial series-coupled fast-rotating barrels so that despite the energy-draining functions a power reserve of up to 3 days is delivered smoothly and precisely.
The Greubel Forsey Quantième Perpétuel à Équation Red Gold comes on a dark brown hand-sewn alligator leather strap with a 5N red gold folding clasp, hand-engraved with the GF logo.
