Box-fresh Nomos Tetra Models for 2014 - The Berlin Set
Everything that Nomos Glashütte produce is understated and beautifully uncluttered, almost all of us have now dropped the "Glashütte" and now refer to them simply as "Nomos". Now there's a new line-up of Tetra models entitled the Nomos Berlin set, available with a range of crisp, colourful and rather delightful dial colours.
The beauty of the Tetra model is that it combines the signature modernism of Nomos with a small-ish square case which at 29.5mm x 29.5mm is spot-on for the "unisex" genre.
Sometimes pure simple functionality is enough and unfussy styling is what Nomos have built their reputation on. The Tetra models feature minimalist numerals and markers which stretch to fit into the corners and slender no-nonsense hands. The addition of a little rounded small seconds dial at 6 o'clock should be at odds with the sharpness of the case and lugs but it conforms beautifully and it has been decorated with a subtle snailed finish - did I mention that Nomos are fastidious when it comes to the minutiae?
The new dial colours, all of which read and sound much better in their native German are; Goldelse, Clärchen and Nachtijall which are powered by a hand-wind Alpha calibre, and Kleene which features a power reserve indication slipped in between the 12 and 1 o'clock location, and which is powered by a DUW 4301 calibre.
Each model in the Nomos Tetra Berlin Set comes presented on a grey velour strap.
