The Vincent Calabrese Hora Nova Tourbillon Regulator
This is masterful horological trickery, an astounding piece from his Régulus Collection, the Vincent Calabrese Hora Nova Tourbillon Regulator.
Stripped down to its bare-bones minimum, the movement appears to float, enclosed within a sapphire case presenting a striking panorama. The Regulator indication reduces the spectacle even further, serving to indicate the minutes whilst the hours are displayed on a sub-dial at three o'clock. The time setting and winding operation is via a crown on the back of the movement.
If like me you find orderly beauty in the neat line-up of the visible components then it may come as no suprise that its creator is also the man who conceived the system of linear gear trains that would become the Corum Golden Bridge.
The Régulus Flying Tourbillon was released a few years ago, but this latest edition which features solid gold bridges and movement base plate is new for 2014 and there will be an opportunity to marvel at its micro-deception during the upcoming BaselWorld event.
