It's Nomos - But Not As We Know It...... The Nomos Lambda and Nomos Lux.
Two new models, the Nomos Lambda and the Nomos Lux have just been announced - both mark a departure from the "norm" at Nomos.
Coming from the workshops of the brand which offer some of the most uncluttered and beautifully designed watches available, these two new models are highly unexpected - Nomos haven't exactly abandoned their minimalist styling - there would be an outcry if they had - but, these models do take the brand into the pricier genre of Haute Horlogerie, and I imagine all at Nomos will be rather chuffed at the inevitable comparisons that will be made between their new calibres and that ofanother great Glashütte watchmaker's.
First up the Lambda with a dial which is dominated by a huge arc indication for the equally generous power reserve of 84 hours with a barely-there seconds counter placed below. The spic and span neatness which we all know and love is still a feature, with diminutive numerals, skinnied pencil hands and dots and dashes for markers.
The Lambda will be available in two editions, rose gold or white gold sized at 42mm across. Inside is the DUW 1001 in-house calibre, made to meticulous standards and as high class as any Glashütte-made calibre.
Next the Nomos Lux ..... not the most "Nomos" of names I know, but they don't use it on the dial so all is well. The model pictured above has an outer dial of baby blue, subtle and charming - and having seen what this brand can do with pastels, I urge you not to dismiss it as girly - but there's also an all white one for those who fancy pure and simple Nomos. The Tonneau case of the Lux measures 40mm across and it too keeps a fresh-faced dial with minimalist styling.
