Linde Werdelin Oktopus II Double Date Titanium Red

Linde Werdelin Oktopus II Double Date Titanium Red

All Linde Werdelin watches have some common characteristics - superb design elements, complex case construction and limited edition colourways which offer a new dial-side panorama.  You see it right across their portfolio and they haven't produced a dud yet.  Continuing the theme is the recently unveiled Linde Werdelin Oktopus II Titanium Red.

Not familiar with the Oktopus II? Allow me to educate you because this is a piece which re-defines the divers watch.  Unusually it has a fixed bezel, the elapsed dive time and all sorts of other useful life-saving information are displayed on the acclaimed Linde Werdelin Reef which is designed to connect to the piece when diving.

Then there's the styling - the dial comprises of 2 layers cut stencil-style by laser offering a replication of an octopus with "limbs" on the lower dial and "eyes" on the date wheels at 10 and 2 o'clock.  Round the back of the case is an engraving of Morte Linde's drawing of an octopus.  The case? - a sculpted form with abrupt angles and unexpected slants and slopes, even at 44mm across it still manages to hug the wrist comfortably and its remarkable construction is the result of the amalgamation of cutting edge machinery with the human touch.

Linde Werdelin have played with red before with their SpidoLite II combining it with titanium to great effect.  Similarly this new Oktopus II edition also offers eye-piercing animation.  The octopus's sucker-bearing arms have a new icy cool look and - perhaps a fanciful observation, but doesn't the little fellow also have a new wide-eyed set of animated eyelashes?
