Pierre DeRoche TNT Royal Retro Power Reserve. In the Family, In-house, Ingenious.

The Pierre DeRoche TNT Royal Retro Power Reserve is this year's new additon to  the ingenious and mesmerising TNT collection.

I love this watch - last year the Pierre DeRoche TNT featured only a few cosmetic nips and tucks, yet it was more than worthy of a mention.  For 2013, the additon of a power reserve indication with a slender red-tipped hand has meant that two of its original six retrograde seconds hands have been sacrificed.  The four which remain in place ensure that this labyrinthine face still presents a flurry of activity albeit with an eye-resting pause, before the spectacle begins once more.  In a highly unusual arrangement, each of these retrograde seconds hands ticks off its own ten second segment before it sends forth the next one in a relay around the dial.  The four visible wheels of the power reserve provide their own panorama.

Dubois Dépraz manufacture the calibre exclusively for this unique watch - each of the seconds hands is gear-driven, the balance wheel having been replaced by a strip-spring mechanism.

Pascal and Jean-Philippe Dubois are in control of the Dubois Dépraz business, continuing the family tradition started by their Great Grandfather in 1901.  Pierre Dubois naturally sought the services of his acclaimed movement-making brothers when he began his own watchmaking company, Pierre DeRoche, an entirely appropriate in-family arrangement.

The Pierre DeRoche TNT Royal Retro Power Reserve is presented in a 47.5mm titanium case with PVD coated elements and will be officially unveiled at BaselWorld 2013.
