Sarpaneva Korona K0 Seasons

The Valentine's Day roses may already be starting to wilt, but let's celebrate a beautiful watchmaking dalliance anyway - not the romantic kind but one which has, and continues to, engender some exquisite offspring the latest being the Sarpaneva Korona K0 Seasons collection.

Stephan's watches are not just "Products of Finland", they are also inspired by the spirit and nature of his extraordinary homeland.  The Korona K0 Seasons pieces represent the four Finnish seasons, from the lethargic days of Winter darkness to the energy brought to the landscape in the endless days of light which Summer brings and of course Spring and Autumn are also recreated superbly too.  Sarpaneva watches always get me in a flap  and the models in this new collection have the added bonus of having their eye-arresting labrinthine dials "Badger-ed" by James Thompson.

In his Black Badger Advanced Composites workshop James Thompson plays, and his toys are the unusual materials from which he creates wonderful stuff.  He is the man responsible for making the Schofield Blacklamp Carbon watch "glow" and really, it was only a matter of time before he and Stephan found each other.

These new pieces which have had their dials animated by luminous teal, green, violet and blue, promise to play with the light in a way which images will not do justice.  If you get the chance to handle them in person at Baselworld then I urge to to grab the opportunity.
