The Julien Coudray 1518 Piece Unique for Only Watch 2013
When Fabien Lamarche introduced his first timepieces to the industry in 2012 under the marque Julien Coudray 1518, his small portfolio presented a synopsis of the skills he had gained in an impressive resumé for one so young.
Having worked for Breguet, Roger Dubuis and Zenith among others, his next step was to devote his energies to the unrestrained, but more uncertain genre of Independent Watchmaking.
Already Julien Coudray 1518 watches have caught the eye of those who appreciate loupe-worthy attention to detail, and his small collection has become acclaimed for its Renaissance-inspired details, exemplary finishing and quality workmanship.
The Julien Coudray Manufacture 1528 Masterpiece White Gold for Only Watch 2013 is a watch with two opposing personalities. It is made almost entirely from 18K white gold, one kilogram in all - that's the movement, the dial, the case, the crown and the buckle. Face-on it is exquisitely beautiful featuring both hand-engraving and an unusual transparent blue enamel, also handworked to the utmost of standards.
- But using a drawing by a 5 year old Swiss nursery school child, the movement has been engraved replicating the child-like sketch to superb effect, bringing to this Haute Horlogerie timepiece a wonderfully contrasting playful character entirely in-keeping with the spirit of this most unique auction event.
