The renewed interest in Cartier’s Privé Collection, previously known as Collection Privée Cartier Paris (CPCP), speaks volumes for the on-going demand for small-series high-end mechanical wristwatches.
For this year’s Privé series, the prestigious Maison turn their attention to the Tank Asymétrique, presenting an exclusive micro-collection of Asymétrique models, including this superb Skeleton piece.
The Asymétrique had its debut in the 1930s, and was also known as the “Losange” or even more poetically, as the“Parallélogramme” Famous for its quirky elegance, it features a dial set at a 30° angle and a case whose brancards are also tilted so that they exhibit a diamond-formed profile on the wrist.
With the Cartier Privé Tank Asymétrique Skeleton model, the dial and movement become as one. The hour markers and the out-size Arabic numerals for the 12 and 6 stretch out over the façade, while beneath them, and almost fully exposed, the inner workings of the specially designed Cartier Calibre 9623 MC hand-wound movement can be appreciated.
Sized at 47.15 mm x 26.2 mm and with a thickness of just 6.38 mm, the Cartier Asymétrique Skeleton retains the dress watch characteristics of the acclaimed Tank portfolio. But, with its curious profile and the added technical challenges required to integrate this specifically designed calibre within its asymmetric caseform without doubt, this will be a highly collectable and covetable timepiece.
The Cartier Asymétrique Skeleton will be available with an 18ct pink gold case, a platinum case or with a diamond-set platinum case. Each edition comes presented on an alligator leather strap specially created to integrate with the unique lug system of the case, and each will be a limited release of 100 pieces.
