Featuring unique métiers d’art dials created by Metalem, the Czapek Quai des Bergues Aurora Borealis and Blue Aurora models affirm the ethos of collaboration which is at the heart of this company’s portfolio.
Both pieces have bombé guilloché dials, executed by hand on Czapek’s “secret alloy” comprising of gold, silver, palladium and platinum. Released in two dial versions, silver for the Aurora Borealis and deep blue for the Blue Aurora, the mesmerising “eaux vives” pattern on both models is an evolution of the Ricochet® guilloché created by Switzerland’s revered dial makers, Metalem.
Czapek do not simply outsource to other companies, instead they invite them to become an intrinsic part of their story. This refreshing spirit of inclusion is perhaps best demonstrated by their current communication campaign “We Collect Rare People” which refers to the company’s relationship with their supply partners, their clients and the shareholders who helped to re-awaken this historical marque through crowdfunding investment.
Such camaraderie has ensured that Czapek have been able to tap-in to a melting pot of talent. So, while the team at Metalem instigated and crafted the design for the guilloché dials of the Aurora Borealis and Blue Aurora models, the SXH1 manual winding movement which powers them was created by acclaimed watchmaker, Jean François Mojon and his team at Chronode.
Both models have 42.5mm stainless steel cases which house domed sapphire crystals. In addition to the hours and minutes, a pair of recessed sub-dials, inset at the 4 and 7 o’clock positions, accommodate a combined weekday and power reserve indication and a small seconds.
The modern architecture and pristine sandblasted bridges of the proprietary calibre SXH1 can be fully appreciated through the sapphire caseback. Beating at 21,600vph its twin barrels arrangement derives an impressive power reserve of 7 days.
Both models come presented on dark blue alligator leather straps and will each be limited to 10 pieces.
